Sausage Links, cops and memos edition
The local blogosphere is buzzing about a Democratic Party cameraman who was forcibly removed by off-duty police officers from a press conference for Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi. David Goldstein at Horse's Ass says the incident sets an unfair double standard, as Republican camera crews are allowed into campaign events for Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire, while the folks at Sound Politics say the Democrats don't exactly have a "spirit of openness," either. Here's the YouTube video. ...
The latest revelation rocking the national blogosphere, meanwhile, is a series of memos from the failed presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Obtained by Atlantic reporter Joshua Green, the memos reveal how her campaign staff's "toxic" clash of personalities produced "an epic meltdown." Jeff Mapes at The Oregonian takes a closer look at the memos, and notices how a certain Portland resident named Lewinsky is prominently mentioned. ...
Speaking of poison: In the wake of Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens' indictment comes another related corruption allegation – and this one is closer to home. Bias? Who at Crosscut wrote the Headline "Rossi's Staff evict a Cameraman": It's under your 2008 election heading linking to the SEATTLE TIMES story. Does the SPD GUILD qualify as "Rossi's Staff". At least we know the Wi-Fi connection is strong at Drinking Liberally.

RE: Bias? Who at Crosscut wrote the Headline "Rossi's Staff evict a Cameraman": Hi Cameron. I wrote the headline, based on this line from that same Times story: "The incident Thursday was the roughest implementation yet of Rossi's long-standing policy not to allow Democratic Party workers to record his appearances." If it's Rossi's long-standing policy, then the eviction can rightly be attributed to his staff, unless the Guild took it upon themselves to decide upon and enact the physical removal of the cameraman, in the absence of a policy held by Rossi and his staff. If the Times is wrong, and it's not a long-standing policy of Rossi's, then let me know. But don't assume bias where there is none.

RE: Bias? Who at Crosscut wrote the Headline "Rossi's Staff evict a Cameraman": Thats a real stretch Lisa, watching the video tape, the guy had been instructed that he was not invited to the event Prior to him entering the building , the guild members told him he was tresspassing and he did not go when asked to. He apparently had arrived with members of the Gregoire Campaign and the Troopers Association. Heaven forbid that the TIMES ever get anything wrong.
Using your logic, every time an illegal immigrant commits a crime in the State of Washington it is a direct result of the Governor, her staff and the Democratic controlled Legislatures longstanding policy to encourage illegal migration to the State and to prevent law enforcement from inquiring as to their legal status. I think I'll stick with bias.

The only bias here was a grammatical one. "A cameraman is evicted from a Rossi endorsement conference" is a terrible kind of Nixonian passive voice ("Mistakes were made") that I try to avoid. The issue here is the subject.
